The overlooked half

We learned to invest in girls. We never finished the job with boys.

For a generation, the world rightly poured itself into the girl child. That work matters and it must continue. But the boy who is unseen, unwell and unguided does not disappear. He grows up, and too often he grows into the very risk his community fears.

The harm a community most wants to prevent, violence against women, fatherless homes, young men adrift, rarely begins in adulthood. It begins much earlier, in a boy nobody thought to reach.

TAHDI was founded on a simple, uncomfortable truth: you cannot protect women by working only with women. You also have to raise the boy who will one day stand next to them, and decide what kind of man he is going to be.

We do not fix men. We reach boys early enough that they never become the problem in the first place.

Health & Wellbeing

Boys cannot grow well if they are not well. We deliver health screening, care navigation and honest education about the body, the mind and the risks young men face.

The most upstream investment in women's safety is a ten year old boy.

Funders are asked to pay for the damage caused by men every day, in shelters, courts, hospitals and lost potential. We offer the alternative almost no one funds: reaching the boy before any of that begins. It is cheaper, kinder and it lasts.
